Boys: We have not been able to fill either our U14- nor our U17 boys teams. We have suspended practice for the boys until further notice. Please contact us by email (Bob Stewart) if you would like join one of the these teams. In the long term, we intend to have boys teams on this club. Girls: We have no openings on our teams at this time. The purpose of the Dash Point Volleyball Club is to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to participate in Regional USA-Volleyball events. For the 2006/2007 USA-Volleyball season, the club fielded one girls U16 team, one girls U17 team, and a boys team. We plan on fielding three girls teams in the 2007/2008 season, and two boys teams. We practice on Sunday afternoons and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the week. In the 2006/2007 season, the girls participated in (or were entered into) eight days of tournament play between early January and late April, and they played in the Regional Championships on May 5th and 6th. The boys played in a Senior Mens tournament; they scrimmaged the Cascade U14s and U15s; they played in three small tournaments hosted by Cascade VBC, Spaceneedle VF, and Dash Point VBC; they followed that with tournaments in Yakima and at the UW; and they finished the season with the Boys Regionals in June, hosted at our site at Lindbergh High School. We expect their schedule to be even more challenging in the 2007/2008 season. The girls teams teams have rosters of between 10 and 13 players, and we plan to have rosters of similar size for our Boys teams. The boys team grew from five players to eighteen over the course of the year and at various times we fielded U14, U15 and U18 teams for tournament play. Although we strive to keep the costs low, the quality of the practices and our expectations for our players are high. For the 2008 season, the cost for the girls teams will not exceed $500 per player, and the boys will not exceed $200 for the standard program. If teams elect to participate in out-of-region events, they are expected to raise the funds to pay for the event. Such fund raising needs to be done in early December, however, as many of these events fill before the new year begins.
